Hi guys
after my last used games grab session i have found a dvd disk (360 game) with an issue
the disk is unrecognizable from the console, is in quite mint condition, apart a spot in the external part

this is the best pic i can take lol :

i have already tried to remove it with in first liquid soap, and after with alcohol with no luck
what i cant reach to understand is if the spot is on the surface of the disk (at touch seem normal, not rough)
or something filtered...
obviously i presume thats the issue

any hint?

I'm not sure from the image, but is it discolored from the rest of the data in any weird way? Asking, as it could be disc rot. Seen a bunch of disc rotted 360 titles at a flea market, informed the owner so they could warm customers.

Can your PC read it?
Project's I'm working on
1) the trigger: a game with a wolfenstein 3d style demo coming soon
2) evil days: a 2d platformer (old project)

Not properly discolored, it is opaque with little pink shade

I have tried, yes, as a dvd-image

its an original 2 disk game (Mass Effect 3)
the first disk works normally

That looks like disc rot. Specifically when the Nickel chrome reflective surface that reflects the laser data back into the optical pickup is peeling off the back of the disc.
I have heard you can sometimes secure it back down but I have never seen it work personally.

The major issue could be the spot separates from the disc just enough to deflect the laser away from the optical pickup while is is spinning.

interesting, never experienced a disc rot issue on original discs until now
strange it is a 2012 game, so not extremely old, probably the previous owner have not stored this disc in right way

confirmed is not a surface spot (i have tried also with toothpaste lol)
but something internal

later ill retry to make read it, if i reach at least one time, at least i can install it to the hdd

thanks everyone

See if the Install works, if not than see if you can find another disc cheap.

For the most part, disc rot is something that doesn't happen just based on age. It can be caused by multiple issues, and one is a bad batch of discs being pressed. This could cause a relatively young product to get it.

99% sure this is a "Resurfacing" issue...
I own an original of Alien Hominid for PS2 which was second hand from a shop years ago that don't read on PS2 or PC... It don't even register it....

Disk looks perfect.... It only cost me a pound so I ain't too fussed lol
