i use artic silver 5 for my original xbox's .so i keep it on hand .
but was wondering if it is better than what sony put in the ps3 .
i know artic silver 5 is much better than what is in an original xbox
and havent had any issues with it in older computers .
i know there is a ton of different stuff on the market
i just want to make sure that im not downgrading quality of paste by using it on a ps3 .

Yeah, its better from what i have read in the past. I have even used a cheaper chinese version and it seemed to do fine in one of my phat ps3 consoles.

Scientifically? no idea lol

I have used Arctic silver 5 on builds for years only for the reasons of...We know it works well, tried and true

Does not dry out quickly, does a decent job, I can sleep at night:)

I do have a box of unused  AMD paste  so  no idea. (comes with the CPU's)

There are ton of products out there, liquid metal ect

From what I have read, a few degrees dif.

Personally, I am not going to start using my hardware for a testbed on cpu pastes

To each their own,  I don't usually follow online reviews, I get the deal straight from the usersbase! Best way :D

My opinion* is no, this would not be a downgrade at all. I have excellent result with this product. Used on every build for last 5 years.
