Fixed an SCPH-5552 partially (missing BIOS), need help now.

As the title says, I saved a SCPH-5552 I had laying in a box of other broken things. It had a missing BIOS chip, fixed that by installing the BIOS from a dead 9002.

Now I have another problem - the CD drive I have from the 9002 is too short. What can I do in this case? Try and make a DIY extension cable? Relocate the laser ribbon connector using wires?

I managed to do it in the end all by myself. Works just fine, loads all the discs I threw at it:
