Our brand new survival shooter, Beneath arrives for Xbox Series X|S tomorrow, October 28, and we’re delighted to be here to tell you a little more about it. Camel 101 has been lucky enough to release a few games over the years, but none quite like Beneath. This is the culmination of everything we’ve learned, and everything we’ve loved about creating horror experiences.

Looking back to our college days, we spent countless hours playing on our Xbox, getting lost in horror games and first-person shooters. Classics like F.E.A.R. captured our imaginations with their blend of intense combat, creeping dread, and memorable stories. With Beneath, we wanted to pay homage to those formative experiences while creating something entirely our own: a fully offline, narrative-driven horror-FPS built to terrify and thrill.

Beneath puts players in the wetsuit of Noah Quinn, a diver on what seems like a routine salvage retrieval mission until he’s pulled into a nightmare beneath the ocean. The deep sea, like space, is full of unknowns, but water brings its own dangers: pressure, visibility, and claustrophobia. We loved exploring these depths, creating environments that are beautiful, hypnotic, and deadly all at once.

Players will confront horrifying threats as they explore multiple underwater research stations, from aggressive human soldiers to eldritch creatures lurking in the shadows. Every encounter is designed to keep players on edge, combining strategic combat, environmental tension, and moments that will truly test your nerves.

We’ve always loved horror with strong narrative and environmental storytelling, and Beneath reflects that. You’ll explore intricate underwater stations, uncover secrets behind locked doors, and confront eldritch horrors inspired by Lovecraft. Along the way, weapons are upgradeable and customizable, encouraging exploration even in the face of fear.

The soundtrack and sound design are central to the experience. We partnered with Black Razor Records to create a custom soundtrack that will be available to stream at launch. It’s a nostalgic nod to the 2000s nu-metal we grew up with, capturing the intensity and energy of bands like Linkin Park, Atreyu, and Korn while perfectly complementing Beneath’s underwater dread. Environmental music also builds tension and atmosphere, punctuated by moments of well-placed terror.

Working together as brothers has always been our greatest advantage. We’ve shared influences, tastes, and experiences from childhood through our years at Camel 101. This collaboration allows us to focus entirely on the game itself, crafting intense firefights, underwater exploration, and terrifying encounters without compromise.

Check out the brand new launch trailer above, and please support us by dropping a wish list and sharing the news. October 28 is your chance to dive into Beneath, confront the horrors lurking beneath the surface, and uncover a story we’ve poured our hearts into.

See you beneath the surface.
