Game developer Alec Holowka dies

Alec Holowka, a very talented video game developer, programmer and musician, author of games like Aquaria and Night In The Woods has died. Aquaria was one of the first indie games that started the indie game revolution in mid 2000s. Remember the old Humble Indie Bundles ? Aquaria was part of the first bundle that started it all. Night In The Woods was released recently with high critical acclaim.

As much talent as he had it seems he had a lot of mental issues and was getting medical help. Few days ago his coworker accused him of an assault. Instead of letting the police or institutions handle it, she thought Internet is a better solution. With no evidence or trial process, or taking into account his unstable mental condition, he was instantly kicked out of the company. He committed suicide this morning.

I liked Aquaria, iirc was 50/50 shmup and Ecco the dolphin style, merged in a great 2d game
did not know the programmer name

a really sad story, R.I.P.
 
And of course, the bastard pile that is Reset Era is doing their usual thing, banning anybody who criticizes their hypocrisy. Hopefully this will be the watershed moment that makes many of their members see how awful that place is, and how open and honest other communities are.

Honestly I wish Reset Era just would go away. Too toxic.
