Mario Kart 64

I like the N64 MK, but never gave it its due back in the day - probably because I only had the PAL version originally... I have the NTSC-J version now and find it far more playable.
Double Dash is my favourite too, closely followed by Mario Kart DS (which I remember fondly for being the first time you could race online in an MK game).

Even though I grew up with both Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 the only thing those two manage to achieve nowadays when I try to play them is that I want to turn them off and play a more modern Kart Racer like Double Dash, Mario Kart 8, the modern Sonic Racing Trilogy or even stuff that came later in the same generation like Crash Team Racing.

I'm not saying that the first two Mario Karts are bad games, it's just that it' s very hard for me to go back to them considering how incredibly basic they feel when compared to what came after them. Plus MK64 has way too many tracks that I either don't like or flat out hate, like Banshee Boardwalk, Rainbow Road, Toads Turnpike, Choco Mountain, Wario Stadium and Bowsers Castle. All these are either way too long, dull and / or feature stupid Stage Hazards that are way too hard to avoid for their own good.
