Movies based on video games

Wait a minute! You mean to tell there's a Postal movie?! :O
This needs a watch.

@"KadiusDar" , I think you're absolutely right. For that exact reason don't get me started on the Monster Hunter movie they're working on, or there will be blood...

i liked Assassin Creed movie, not bad
it's a bit messy with past/future story, but, well, the game itself...

Who could forget Elf Bowling: The Movie, based on the flash games from 1998/1999 and was released after the 6th game and years after the GBA/DS ports, and it was critically panned. It was rated PG (as the back of the DVD cover said) despite being an animated movie.
(I've watched the reviews recently by the way)

Can't believe no one has mentioned yet in this thread the Need for Speed movie from 2014 lol Its just one of those films I feel critics "tore" into for the sake of it - a freaking statement backed up by the audience rating being so much higher than the critics rating. Id say Fuck emm, Sometimes critics just gotta hate. Fast and the Furious can go the hell Lol This movie has Much better and a deeper story. BTW Aaron Paul's performance was neat on that movie.

To be hones I forgot about it despite the fact that I have it as a BD on my Shelf. Really enjoyed, it´s a dumb, fun movie.

Does anyone remember an ending for Doom where the Rock went full cyber demon with horns and crap? It seems like the first time I ever saw this movie I remember this happening, but when I watched it again the ending was kind of bland.

The Last Starfighter

Fantastic Movie that is based on IN MOVIE GAME , while actual game was relised much later

The Last Starfighter was About an Arcade Game. The Actual Arcade game didn't exist until after the film was released, and it is terrible, prototype stage only.

Still one of my fave films from being a kid :)

Clannad (film)

[video=youtube]

sorry fellas i'm on a big rush so i had to copy/paste the content... sorry about that...

Can't seem to go a few months without popping any of the following game films into my DVD drive:

Mortal Kombat (all the films)
Resident Evil (all of 'em)
Tomb Raider Cradle of Life
Tomb Raider (Jolie again)
Bloodrayne (very odd handling of the franchise by Uwe Boll, but if you're a fan...)

and here's a few non-title gaming-related ones that are interesting:

Gamer (French/with subtitles with a LOT of retro gaming content and good comedy)
Stay Alive (pretty decent horror flick about teens obsessed with a deadly online multiplayer)

^^ crap, completely different from the original character
seems a mongrel from an hedgehog and a human
if a human make sex with a hedgehog (ouch), after 9 months probably will come out this thing :(

Yup they made Sonic look a bit cutesy on this one, they should've tried making him look more badass and rad or just stick with the original.... :-/

Anyone seen the new trailer for the new DOOM Annihilation?
The movie is going to be a direct-to-video movie to be released months before the upcoming Doom Eternal.
ID Software said they had no involvement with the movie.

I really liked the first Silent Hill movie, it was visually stunning and had a great atmosphere, it is one of few movies I actually bought on DVD. They took some liberties with the characters and story, but it was very close to the game.

The sequel was plain stupid and horrible, a dumb teenage horror flick.

The saddest part is they had two leading actors that looked exactly like James (Sean Bean) and Mary/Maria (Radha Mitchell) from Silent Hill 2 game, and the first movie ends with the wife missing. So they could have easily made the movie sequel based on Silent Hill 2, which many think is the best game in the series, with Sean Bean in the main role going to Silent Hill to find his wife. Instead they made the movie sequel based on Silent Hill 3 and did a terrible job.
